Signal reach and spread

Following yesterday’s activation at the former Gilnahirk site I thought it would be useful to have a look at the signal spread and reach. The system I used was a simple dipole which radiated east and west and the maximum power used was 75 watts. So let’s have a look using the site reverse beacon network.

The image below shows the reach on 40 metre band.

This shows the reach on 30m band

Lastly 20m band.

From the tables you can identify the entity reached, the distance travelled, the SNR (signal to noise ratio) which is the strength of the signal above noise level and lastly the speed I was keying.
