CSOS Gilnahirk

In 2004 I began to research and recover the history and purpose of a former government wireless station on the outskirts of Belfast. Having successfully recovered a fair amount of information on the station I am still keen to learn anything about the station, the people who served there and the listening targets of the station during its years of operation up to its closure in 1978. Any information no matter how trivial including photographs would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

On Saturday 5 May from 10:00 to 15:00 I will be operating a radio from the Gilnahirk site. This is an annual radio activation to mark and commemorate the work carried out at this site. Operation will be CW (morse code) on 10m and 40m and the callsign will be Gi5TKA, you can ascertain the frequency in use at Reverse Beacon Network.
